WANTED: MS-DOS PD program based on RSA Public Key

I am looking for an MS-DOS based, public domain program that with
do public key encryption based on the RSA standard. Does anyone
know the name of such a program and/or an ftp site where it could
be obtained? A companion program to generate the keys would be
nice too!

Please reply direct as I do not normally subscribe to this group.

you might try PGP - Phil's Pretty Good Software provides Pretty Good
Privacy (PGP) from Philip Zimmerman. (lots of P's I know :-)

Anyway works well on a DOS machine. Be aware of patent status of RSA
in the US (through 2000) for commercial use.

Check with ARCHIE for an ftp site. I seem to have misplaced it.

How to include the taste of Glendronach in a multi-media system?

RIPEM is such a program. It has been undergoing Alpha testing
and will soon enter beta testing. RIPEM is not, strictly speaking,
public domain because it uses technology licensed free of charge
from RSA Data Security. The license agreement precludes commercial
use and has some other provisions, but is probably generous enough
for most sci.crypt purposes. (The code in RIPEM that I wrote is
public domain.)

Persons genuinely interested in becoming beta testers can
send me email at mrr@scss3.cl.msu.edu. I will only take
about 10 more testers before releasing the program, though.
I've learned my lesson and will not make a public prediction
of the date of final release!

I am interested in writing a small encryption/decryption program (not for
commercial release - for my own use) that uses RSA and/or DES. Can anyone
direct me to good sources of information that would enable me to implement
these techniques from scratch? (high level descriptions of the techniques
aren't terribly useful, but they will do if you know of no other sources).
Thanks in advance,
Paul
P.S. you can reply directly to me or to here.......
