I'd rather live in neither:  a country with freedom to express religious 
principles where the state is forbidden to support any of them.

How does this follow?  I can see it lowering accident rates, but not murder 
rates.

Those are currently illegal, dangerous, and a bad idea.  Unfortunately, the 
state has the power to ignore the law.
