Look for after-school programs -- they're geared towards the academic
year, and often offer full-day programs for days when school isn't in
session. Naturally, you'll do best if with programs in your local
school district, or with programs oriented towards whatever school
your child attends. For example, our local YM-YWHA tracks not just
the local public school system, but also that of the two private Jewish
schools in the area.
