Hi all, Expressions of interest are being sought for attendance at the 4th Australian Computers in University Education Conference (OzCUPE4) which is tentatively scheduled to be immediately prior to the 1998 Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) Congress (28 Sept - 2nd Oct 1998) in Perth, Western Australia. Although the conference focusses primarily on computer applications in physics education in the tertiary sector, previous satisfied attendees have included chemists and secondary scienceteachers. The plan is to run the main part of the OzCUPE4 conference over the weekend (Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th Sept) prior to the AIP Congress, with perhaps one half day session in parallel with the Congress on the monday. One reason for this is to take advantage of the need to stay O/N on a Saturday to obtain cheaper internal airfares. There is also the possibility that through the services of several of the (potential) international speakers we may be able to run a 2 to 3 day workshop on the use of Computers in Physics teaching and learning. The tentative dates for these workshops are the Thursday (24th) and Friday (25th) before the OzCUPE4 Conference. We realize this may conflict with the teaching committments of many academics but we do not wish to clash significantly with the AIP conference in the following week. Could you please answer the following and send a reply by email ASAP. 1. I am interested in attending the OzCUPE4 conference. YES/NO 2. I am in delivering a paper at the OzCUPE4 conference. YES/NO 3. I am interested in a 2 day workshop immediately prior to the OzCUPE4 conf. 4. I will also be attending the AIP Congress YES/NO Can you please circulate the above message on any internal mailing lists in your department etc. Thanks for your help. ______________________________________________________________________ Dr Robert D Loss EMAIL: RLOSSRD@CC.CURTIN.EDU.AU Senior Lecturer fon +61 8 9266 7747 Department of Applied Physics fax +61 8 9266 2377 Curtin University of Technology PO BOX U1987 PERTH 6845 Australia Curtin University of Technology Applied Physics http://www.curtin.edu.au/curtin/dept/phys-sci/apphys/staff/bob.html http://alpha1.curtin.edu.au/~rlossrd/BOBSHOMEPAGE.HTML Western Australian Isotope Science Research Centre http://www.curtin.edu.au/curtin/centre/waisrc/ Curtin University Physics Education Research Group http://www.curtin.edu.au/curtin/dept/phys-sci/apphys/cuperg/cuperg.htm Curtin University Physics Studio http://www.physics.curtin.edu.au/studio/
