I was talking normal mobiles. I went and found some coverage maps, and they match what I said. You must have different maps. Queensland: http://www.telstra.com.au/mobilenet/network/dgqldmp.htm Clearly only the coast, South West Qld, and a few isolated places inland. Nothern Territory: http://www.telstra.com.au/mobilenet/network/dgntmp.htm Very little coverage. Western Australia: http://www.telstra.com.au/mobilenet/network/dgscwamp.htm South isn't too bad, but the North hasn't got much. There is coverage in major centres, but if you are on the road, you wont get much coverage. I've met tourists who had intended to rely on their mobiles when travelling, and they were caught out when they found out that mobiles do not work in most areas. Rod, have you got some coverage maps that show a different picture? Post the URLs - I am genuinely interested. -- Sadly, I've had to munge my e-mail address to reduce spam. Reply to the newsgroup.
