I suspect that if too large a percentage of cable subscibers > obtain descramblers then the cable industry will find a way to fight back. The only instances I've heard of where someone has been cought with an illegally hooked up descrambler involved a fair abount of stupidity. In one case the guy who had installed them was at work when there was a problem with so the wife called the cable company to service the problem. The service tech noticed the illegal hookup and the cable company's lawyers wanted him to pay $5000 per illegal hookup, there were two, or $10,000. After his lawyer got involved they settled for a couple thousand. In another classic case of stupidity, the cable company aired a program the had a lottery for prizes awarded to randomly selected cable customers whos boxes would be programmed to unscramble the information on where to go to claim their prizes. They got a couple dozen idiots to go down to claim their prizes but all they received was a citation and fine of $1000. If your interested in purchasing a descrambler here on the Internet, I've compiled a list of almost 20 descrambler retailers on the WWW. If you don't see a site listed there that you think should be, let me know. I've tried to eliminate all of the descrambler plans ripoffs. http://www.why.net/home/phylos/descrambler.html -- Timothy J.
