The  March '89 issue of Radio Electronics magazine has, on page 82,
an ad for surface mount resistor and capacitor prototyping kits.
Here's the info:

        CC-1 Capacitor Kit contains 365 pieces, 5 each, of every
        10% value from 1pf to .33uf.  
        CR-1 Resistor Kit contains 1540 pieces, 10 each of every 5% value
        from 10 ohm to 10 megohm.
        Sizes are 0805 and 1206.
