Hi.
Was discussing some things with a local camera nut here recently. He says
that they're using a "contrast" scan on some sort of matrix that is
illuminated with the reflected light through the lens of a auto-focusing
camera. Apparently, the way this thing is supposed to work is a circuit
scans a bit-map off some kind of optical matrix olight-sensitive
transistors (or the like) and looks for fuzzyness (instead of
solid 11111100001111.....something like 111001101011000101011111)...where
the 1's and zeros represent the image of an item to be photgraphed.
I'm interested in finding out exactly what kind of matrix they're using
and if these things are available to us "Terror Through Science" types ?

Using an aspect ratio from a lens, I suppose it wouldn't be too difficult
to ascertain a rough idea of distance to the physical object given
the required amount of "zooming" etc.
Does someone know enough about auto-focus camera's to enlighen us
"Use high-powered radar to see 20 feet" basement hacks ?

Thanks in advance.
