Sears memory/speaker telephone

I have a Sears 40-number-memory telephone. The next model up from
this one is basically the same phone, but with a speakerphone option.
Upon peeking inside the case this weekend, I see that MY phone ALREADY
HAS a speaker wired up inside! I'm thinking that the same circuit board
is used for both phones, and be that all I'm missing is an external switch.
I vaguely seem to remember this being discussed last year (maybe). Does
anyone have the speakerphone, or does anyone know if this is true? (Do I
just need to add a switch?) If yes, anyone know where I connect it?
Thanks.
