Also not famous in the German green world. He is CEO of a division of RWE, the
electric power company that runs all of the nuclear facilities in Germany. He is
also a Chemist, and was on the BOD of Shell (or the German subsidiary, Deutsche
Shell AG). Hardly a green type. He was, however, the minister of ecology in the
state (city) of Hamburg. Doesn't mean he is/was green minded at all. A

planning of the productive sector of any economy is bad.  Mao and Pol
Pot did it and killed millions through starvation.  Bush and Obama did
it as well and also killed millions all over the world by raising
global food prices.  Our brain dead television media does not report
that fact, but it is absolutely true.  Renewable energy schemes =
economic collapse and mass starvation.  Hydroelectric power in the
only renewable energy source appropriate for large scale energy
production.  Geothermal is OK, but not renewable because geothermal
wells eventually run cold.

Other than hydroelectric power, renewable energy schemes cannot help
us in any positive way for large scale energy production.  Scams,
hoaxes, and bad investments are always exposed in the end.  Wind and
solar have failed in Europe and are failing in the USA.  Over time
even the majority will wake up and demand real energy sources that are
affordable and reliable.  Subsidies are being cut right now.  Mandates
will be abolished soon.  The mindless days of the great energy snake
oil bonanza are coming to an end.  Those silly pigs will not fly for
long.

As far as man made global warning is concerned, those who are 100%
sure it is a disaster and those who are 100% convinced it does not
exist are engaging in hubris. There are too many unknown variables to
know for certain one way or another, and there is no real scientific
consensus on the subject.  We need to cut fossil fuel use because oil
and coal are too expensive.  There are far better carbon free
alternatives, but windmills, solar panels, and biofuels will only help
collapse human civilization even faster.  Renewable energy schemes =
economic collapse, increased environmental destruction, and mass
starvation.  You cannot collect weak and diffuse energy from the sun
and the wind without making a big mess on Earth.  The weaker and less
concentrated the energy source, the bigger the monster machine you
need to collect it.  We need a smaller ecological human footprint on
Earth, not a bigger one.

He is also a prominent Social Democrat who lead the charge to green
energy.   Seems he is one who has seen both sides and made a reasoned
judgement.

Social Dems(SPD) in Germany aren't necessarily Lefties. There is a Green Party
there that has a voice in politics (compared to our green party). IF he was at
all Green, he'd be a member.
