Countries around the world are accelerating research
into electric vehicles. Although many new battery technologies show
promise, most experts agree that "old fashioned" lead-acid
technology -- the same batteries used today -- still provides the
most cost effective power source for EVs. Moreover, that
technology is powering electric vehicles right now.
ALABC is the Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium, an
international consortium of 44 battery manufacturers, auto
companies, and supporting industries from 11 countries.
ALABC's research and development focuses on improving energy,
power, and life in lead-acid battery design. Critical goals include
improved energy-to-weight ratio, improved power-to-weight ratio,
improved battery life, improved cost per battery pack, and
improved rapid charging.
If you plan to attend the Electric Vehicle Ride & Drive
at RFK Stadium, please visit the ALABC display to learn
how ALABC is helping make electric vehicles a reality.
