References on servo-control needed

Can anybody give me good references on servo-control written for a
non-engineer? I have an application where an electric motor needs to
follow a trajectory accurately and am looking for a better control
solution than the one I have. The application uses a computer to derive
a torque command to a motor controller.

Unfortunately all the books I have on the subject are written for
fourth-year or postgrad engineering students, who are conversant with
Laplace transforms and other obscure (to me) mathematical theory. I
really need a how-to manual rather than a theory book.

Thanks,
	Jeremy
