Are you interested in the possibility of using fuzzy control?  If so,
you might want to check out one of the documents on TIL's fuzzy logic
email server - v1i2motr.txt.  This is an article on a comparison
between PID and fuzzy control of a servo motor system, excerpted from
one of TIL's company newsletters - the complete newsletter issue is
also on the server as v1i2.ps.Z.
