looking for software

I'm looking for a database program that keeps track of mechanical parts
placed in a drawing. It does not have to have sophisticated drawing tools
as long as it has decent import capabilities (2-D is fine). I would
be happy with a CAD system with good links to a database, though this
is overkill for the problem at hand. The program will be used to manage
parts placed from a library of parts available to the database.

What I'm really looking for is something very like OrCAD, which is a
schematic capture program, but that juggles mechanical parts instead
of electronic components.

It must be available for Mac, PC, or Sparc. Does anyone have any ideas?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please reply by email.
