Hello, I'd like to create a 256 color map for Fractint 17.2 which very closely represents the visible spectrum (~0.38 to 0.71 microns) - one could call it a rainbow. What I plan to do is to divide the wavelength range of visible light into 255 discrete points (may not be evenly spaced), and then determine the color mapping parameters for each particular wavelength. The question: how do I convert a particular wavelength in the visible range to the three RGB .map parameters for use by Fractint? Of course, if somebody's already done this, then I'd like to get the map, but I'd like to know how to do it anywhoze. Jon -- Charter Member of the INFJ Club. Now, if you're just dying to know what INFJ stands for, be brave, e-mail me, and I'll send you some information. It WILL be worth the inquiry, I think. ============================================================================= | Jon Noring | noring@netcom.com | I VOTED FOR PEROT IN '92 | | JKN International | IP : 192.100.81.100 | Support UNITED WE STAND! | | 1312 Carlton Place | Phone : (510) 294-8153 | "The dogs bark, but the | | Livermore, CA 94550 | V-Mail: (510) 417-4101 | caravan moves on." | ============================================================================= Who are you?
