Billiard Balls and Lyapunov Exponents

I'm working on a project involving billard balls in a convex space.
The basic program just computes the trajectory of a ball in a circle,
ellipse, or stadium, given an initial velocity and initial position.

I want to add something that will calculate the Lyapunov exponents of
the system when the ball is in an ellipse or stadium (the exponent
should be zero for a circle).

Any suggestions on the best way to go about doing this?

Thanks!
