There was a paper given at the November Acoustical Society Meeting in the
special session entitled "Chaos and Music" in which the author generated scales
which on the printed page looked like one scale, but sounded, when played, like
another scale (so-called "fractal" scales can do this). For more information
on this and the Shepard's tone, see the November abstract issue of the Journal
of the Acoustical Society of America for more details, and authors to contact.
