LaboImage 4.0 
Release notes #1

1. Sites.

   ftp.ads.com, alias for tahurangi.ads.com (128.229.36.25): 
   LaboImage 4.0 will shortly be in pub/VISION-LIST-ARCHIVE/SHAREWARE.
   Until then, it is in pub/VISION-LIST-ARCHIVE/PUBLIC.
   LaboImage 3.1 (SunView) will stay in ../SHAREWARE.


2. Executable.
   
   An executable version, compiled in static mode for Sun SparcStation,
   is in the tar file as ../distribution/Laboimage/LaboImage. This 
   version does not require Motif to run (but does require X11).


3. Portability.

   LaboImage 4.0 has been tested solely on Sun SparcStation, using X11r4
   / Motif 1.1.3. and X11r5 / Motif 1.2. 

   We have been informed by several users that the only hindrance to
   portability to other platforms is the I/O with Sun raster files.
   Therefore, it should be sufficient to remove these options in 
      ../distribution/Laboimage/libtraitements/lecture4.c   (read)
      ../distribution/Laboimage/libtraitements/sauve4.c     (write)
   and to modify the Makefile accordingly.
