I am searching for possibility of storing short image sequences (10 ... 30 sec)
of 3 - 4 synchronized CCD cameras to the harddisk of a SUN (S-Bus) or a PC. As
realtime disks and image sequence RAM are rather expensive, my idea was to use
a board doing realtime JPEG compression.
My questions are:
1.) Where do I get reasonnably priced JPEG compression boards?
2.) Does there exist an RGB JPEG compression board, which would compress data
of 3 camaras simultaneously?
3.) Which compression rate (resp. which datarate) can be expected?
4.) Are JPEG hardware solutions fully compatible with decompression routines
in software?
