Looking for linear CCD interface board to PC486

I'm currently interested in using linear CCD chip (1024--2048
elements) for our instrument. The problem is that I could not find
some less expensive interface board (say < $500) to drive a CCD chip
and convert to 8 bits/pixel digital data to PC386/486.

Could anybody give me some hints where I can find the board
(either commercial or custom-designed)?

Thanks,

Tom (elee7cw@menudo.uh.edu)
