I am trying to find an inexpensive program capable of doing FFT on images. I take two digital images of laser speckle (or any other random dots) on an object, one before and one after a small in-plane translation, add both and then do FFT on an area of the added image. Since there are two sets of identical, but slightly apart, speckle dots, the FFT spectrum (in the form of dark fringes) can show the direction and magnitude of the translation. I do not want to invest a lot of money (usually ~$2000) for software until I know if the method works for me. Is there a PD or shareware to do FFT on images? I also hope to find someone doing something (even remotely) similar to this. Thanks in advance Adam akarpowicz@mta.ca
