Kennedy Krieger Institute The Kennedy Krieger Institute, founded in 1937 as the Children's Rehabilitation Institute, is a comprehensive resource for children with disabilities. A non-profit Institute, which employs over 1000 people, it is on the leading edge in the treatment and research related to brain disorders in children. It also is closely affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, with respect to professional staff, facilities, clinical activities and collaborative research. We are the Behavioral Neurogenetics and NeuroImaging Research Center. Established in 1986 our mission has been to increase scientific understanding of brain structure, function and development in children through the study of individuals with genetic or other neurobiological causes of developmental and neurobehavioral disability and normals. Quantitative neuroimaging of MRI scans has been one of the tools utilized to attain this goal, other tools include genetics and behavioral analysis. We are currently developing a 2D-5D Image Processing/Analysis program modeled on the ISO/IEC 12087 image processing standard. We have converted this standard to C++ and are in the process of implementing it. Additionally, we are developing an object oriented interface for this code under WIN32 using C++ on Windows 95/NT. Our previous image processing program is written on the Mac in Pascal, so some algorithms will also be converted from Pascal to C++.
