I need Software to drive an old nice HP Scanjet (9190 AU), my original 
software disks are unreadable, and HP has finished supporting this nice device.

Not true.  The ftp'able DeskScan-II does still support the 9195A ScanJet Plus,
but not the 9190A ScanJet.
