Hi, I am using a Sony XC711p single CCD colour camera for computer metronomy, but have run into a problem: Because the camera only has one ccd whose pixels are split between red, green and blue, the colour resolution is limited, and this can lead to strong colour aliasing effects wherever there is a big intensity change. For instance, a black to white transition in an image would be flecked with colour. For this reason, sony appear to have added a filter which clamps down the intensity in the region of the edge, thereby hiding any aliasing effects. This bothers me: I don't care about colour aliasing since I know that the camera is accurately sampling what it sees, and I'm concerned with accuracy, not with visually pleasing results. I DO care that the camera is shifting the position of edges in my images. I've tried contacting sony about this, but they are of little help. Can anyone suggest: a) ways to calibrate this effect b) ways to disable the @#$% filter c) other researchers who have worked with this problem d) someone in Sony who knows about this problem I should also add that I have also seen the same effect on a JVC single chip CCD camera. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
