Where to get Virtual Reality equipment ??? (Who makes the stuff?)

I don't frequent any of these news groups, so sorry if this question
appears a little out of line or has been discussed to no end . Anyway,
does anyone know of a manufacture of Virtual Reality Equipment? I
don't think the camera equipment will be difficult to find. (Sony
makes this cigar size camera called the XC-999, for about $1400 big
ones. I have been told the guys at Argon National Labs really like
it!) What I'm looking for is the the helmet. Some sort of device which
contains two monitors and optics so you won't go cross eyed looking at
images inches from your eyes. The end result should be a three
dimensional image presented to the wearer of the helmet. Again, I'm
looking for a Virtual Reality vision system, specificly the helmet.
If anyone knows of a manufacture, send me some E-mail. Also, if anyone
knows of alternative ways of viewing virtual reality which allows more
than one person access to the same image, I'd like to read your
comments as well. I should add I am only interested with the image at
this time. The added cost of helmet position sensors is something I am
trying to avoid.

					...thanks

There is a startup called Ono-Sendai (yes, named after the fictional
company in William Gibson's "Neuromancer") that has announced that
they're working on a consumer VR system to ship in the next year or so.
It should cost under $1000 and will include the helmet, position sensors,
and some kind of hand-position stuff too.
I don't have their number or net address handy, but they're based in San
Francisco so try calling directory assistance for (415)...

I have seen an advert today for these people below, but it sounds of if they
rent whole arcade systems... might be worth giving a call...
