OPTIMAL THRESHOLDING

Hello,

I'm actualy working on teeth pictures, and I want to use the approach developed
by Chow and Kaneko for outlining boundaries : "Automatic Boundary detection of
the left ventricle from cineangiograms" - Computers and Biomedical research (1972).
Or more recently, the article called "Optimal Thresholding - A new approach" by
Snyder and Bilbro - Pattern Recognition Letters (1990) based on tree annealing.
(This algorithm avoids local minima of the gradient descent method)
The method is very feasible for low quality images, that is the reason why I
would like to apply it on teeth pictures;
Any informations would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Pascal
