Object recognition in California

Some time ago I caught part of an episode of Quantum, an Australian
popular science program, and it featured a "new" technique of
model-based object recognition developed in (I think) California for NASA.

It involved transforming the edges of both the image and the model into
a special "edge-space" (my words) where they could be easily compared.

I would like to mention the technique as part of the background to a
paper I'm writing, but I have no idea who the authors are or any
details of the method.

If anyone can offer me any references, names or pointers of any kind to
this I'd be most grateful.

Martin

You feel sleepy. Notice how restful it is to watch the cursor blink. Close your

Hough transform. In any standard IP textbook.
