If not, how do you know what's on topic and what isn't? Even if this is somewhat of a diversion, language and autistic confusion about it are very much on topic for an autism NG. Also, autistic people exchanging ideas and questions is always on topic. The thread started there, I want to continue it there. I don't like missing threads and I don't want to subscribe to sci.lang to follow it. > >Thank you for that enlightening response. (NOT) > > Likewise. It was not my purpose to enlighten you. I thought *you* were responding to *my* questions, not the other way around. Ask me about something I know about and I will be pleased to enlighten you. > A word so big that you may have to look in a *college* dictionary for it. As I said, I don't appreciate the condescension. Just because I am not obsessed with linguistics does NOT mean I'm stupid. I expect my vocabulary and IQ rival yours in other areas, but that's not the issue here. I was asking questions - just curious - participating in a thread on an AUTISM list. I do like this, though, it points out rather clearly that we are not the only ones lacking in social skills. > >Sounds daunting. No one is forcing you to type anything. Like I said, I am not stupid, I am disabled. Reading is very challenging for me, so topics of less than obsessive interest are not usually worth the effort. > >Well who started cross-posting this anyway? > > Not I! Nor I, so please don't get on my case for posting what is a perfectly reasonable question in the NG I intended to post it in. > Regardless of where it started out, it's in sci.lang now--as anyone who > pays even the remotest attention to the Newsgroups line in the header > would realise. Yes, I did notice that, which is why I put bit.listserv.autism back in. I left sci.lang in case people there were following. I will remove it from any future replies. (I don't need to post somewhere where people are going to treat me like an idiot for asking questions - something it took me years to learn to do.) > I don't know how you do things in your newsgroup, but I > assume you, too, have a FAQ so you don't have to explain what autism is to > every newbie who shows up. Why should you expect us to operate different- > ly? I don't know if we have a FAQ, but we do explain autism to anyone who asks or we send them to websites where they can get the information they seek. Specific questions are always answered. Sorry to have invaded your elitist little space. (Though I really shouldn't be apologising as I'm not the one who started the crossposting.) I will leave you to whatever it is you do there besides putting down people with disabilities. -- Kalen ** End of message.
