I can understand : day-month-year, and its reverse of : >year-month-day, because these show a progression from smallest unit to >largest, or vice versa. But month-day-year? Or is it just that the US has >to be different from everyone else? Actually, we were wondering the same about Europe's weird dating conventin of putting the month and date in backwards order: is it just that Europe and its former empires have to be different from everyone else? Not just that but also with abbreviations, oftentimes, especially if not in English, e.g., a "National Front For The Liberation Of Eschenstein" might be rendered as FLENTOF, instead of NFFTLOE. Makes you wonder if they also drive on the wrong side of the streets anywhere over there...
