Depends what logic you use and how you understand the word `between'.
Accordingly to my (weird ;^) mind, there are 98 years between 1901
and 2000. Don't laugh yet, read on... Take a look at this ASCII picture
consisting of 5 trees (trees are lame, for bandwidth conservation):

 ` ` ` ` `
/|\ /|\ /|\ /|\ /|\
/|\ /|\ /|\ /|\ /|\
 a b c d e

How many trees are there between trees #a and #e?
There are 3 trees between them, right? If there were
say 3 people standing together in a row, how many people
would be in the middle? Right, just one person. Applying
the same logic to say years 1990 to 1996 one can boldly
state that there are 5 years in between. It does contradict
to the logic of a math teacher, but I am a future hardware/
software consultant so my logic is different. :)

Regards,
