Limits to Scientific Knowledge

ABSTRACT:
Through the work of Goedel, Turing, Chaitin and others, it is by now
well known that there are logically undecidable questions in
mathematics. The goal of this talk is to explore whether undecidability
extends in any meaningful fashion to scientific questions {\em outside} of
mathematics. It will be shown that consideration of this matter
involves a detailed investigation of the interrelations between
observations in the physical world, completeness in mathematics
and program correctness in computation.
