A friend is doing some modeling that reiteratively integrates a set of equations. Different integration methods yield different answers after a relatively few iterations, that is the model predictions diverge rapidly depending on the integrator used. Is there a general reference that discusses the strengths, weaknesses and characteristic errors associated with different methods of integrating differential equations?
