Does anyone know a characterization of the kernel of the inverse wavelet transform? Of particular interest is the continuous wavelet transform, or, even better, the semi-continuous one, in which the scale parameter is left continuous, but the translation parameter may be discrete. However, any information at all would be helpful, even the fully discrete case. I am referring in particular to the affine group in 1 dimension, but two dimensions would also be interesting. Any references to literature would be helpful, otherwise this could be a long detour on my program of research. Thanks for any help, Dave Eliezer eliezer@physics.llnl.gov
