The Theoretical Biology and Biophysics Group (T-10) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking postdoctoral candidates to develop new mathematical and statistical insights and techniques for finding patterns in biological sequences. Interdisciplinary work is encouraged by LANL, and there are relevant ongoing collaborations at LANL, for example, with the Center for Human Genome Studies, the Center for Nonlinear Science, the Computing Theory Group (CIC-3), and Structural Biologists. A PhD completed within the last three years or soon to be completed is required. Research experience in mathematical probability, statistics, or combinatorics is preferred. Computing and data analysis skills are desired. Annual starting salaries range from $39,660 to $42,860, and there is a generous and comprehensive benefits package. For consideration please submit TWO COPIES of a curriculum vitae and publication list to Postdoctoral Programs 94-053-PD, MS P290, Los Alamos, NM 87545. In the cover letter, please specify your interest in working in T-10 and briefly describe your interests in sequence analysis and what research you would like to do while at LANL. LANL is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. Individuals with disabilities needing reasonable accommodation should call (505) 667-8622. A Teletype Device for the Deaf (TDD) is available by calling (505) 665-5357. LANL is operated by the University of California for the United States Department of Energy. Please do not respond electronically. Thanks.
