We have a user here who would like some Gauss programs translated into Matlab programs (Pro-Matlab for Sun workstations, to be specific). Would it be feasible to write a translator program, perhaps in awk or perl, to do this? I'm not a user of either package myself, but I'd imagine that the two languages are reasonably similar. Are there non-obvious (or even obvious!) pitfalls involved? Does anybody already have such a translator??
