I have encountered the following problem: The system I am working with has been mechanically disturbed. I am told that the disturbance can be treated as Gaussian in 2-Dimension. The effect of this perturbation is further assumed to be low-pass filtering of the "true" image by the Gaussian disturbance noise. Is it valid to assume that the lowpass filter is Gaussian ? . If not, what is the right way to approach this problem? Thanks,
