An author of a recent paper has referred to Chernoff-Hoeffning bounds: "Chernoff-Hoeffding bounds are used to determine the sample size N needed to bound the error in the probability estimate" Unfortunately, no reference has been cited. Can anyone point me toward a reference for this material. The statistics books available in our library dont seem to refer to it and my search through abstracts hasnt been able to locate these bounds under this name. Any help would be much appreciated!!!! Thanks, Wayne.
