I am curious how different it is > from the DOS version in utility and functionality ?? Systat for Windows seems to have all the functionality of the DOS version. In fact, in many ways it seems as if it is just the DOS version running in a window. The stats results are scrolled in a window just like on a DOS screen. The graphics are identical to the DOS graphics; they don't even use the Windows fonts. It even draws the cluster diagrams with ASCII characters in a scrolling window rather than as a graphic. I haven't done a detailed comparison, but it seems as if all the analyses that are in the DOS version are in the Windows version. You can type commands and run command files just like in the DOS version. You can bypass these and use the menus and "QuickStat" buttons, but I'd say if you are used to the DOS version you'll feel quite at home with Systat for Windows. It has a few nice features, like you can click on a data point on a scattergram and that datum will be highlighted in the data editor, which you can have displayed beside the graph. You can also cut and paste between Systat and other Windows programs. If you use Windows for other things anyway it's worth getting. It's not worth changing to Windows just to use Systat for Windows, though. -- Dr. Warren L.
