Forgive me if this is not the right group for this, but I need
information on Fluctuation Analysis. I personally don't know
what it entails or even what it means, but since I'm posting this
for a friend who presumably does, I'll be happy to receive any and
all comments on the subject. Since I do not scan these groups often
please e-mail responses to hoodt@lfs.loral.com

Thanks in advance,

Tom Hood

The only time I've heard this used is in biology. It's also called
noise analysis there. Basically it is statistical parameter
estimation, and in what I saw the underlying process was a Markov
chain or function of a Markov chain with some noise shoved onto it.
Basically it involves computing whatever stats you have to to get
parameter estimates, for instance sample moments, power spectrum etc.

I'm probably way off track.
