Seeking dentist recommendation in Suburban MD

Need a dentist in Suburban Maryland, outside DC, who is associated
with Optimum Choice or United Concordia.

The guy I see now runs ones of those "fast food" dental offices where
the hygenist cleans your tooth, and then he gives the teeth a
10-second look, then rushes to his next patient. Would like to find a
dentist who spends a little time with his patients.

Thanks,
Steve O.

Are those plans PPO or HMO by any chance?

PPO and HMO plans pay such an abysmally small amount that it is not
reasonable to expect the dental office to be able to afford to spend any
time with you.

Well.........

Chances are that your insurance plan does not pay the dentist enough
money for him/her to take their time delivering dental care. To have a
decent profit margin they have to have all chairs full and all employees
working *hard* every minute of the day.

Fees are going to be a lot higher in the type of practice that you wish
to have treat you. It is unlikely that they would participate with any
discount insurance plans.

It costs money to hire hygenists. Many dentists do their own cleanings and
thusly spend a good amount of time with their patients. I would recommend
calling around seeing which do this, and then deciding amongst the
'qualifiers'.

REPLY

Please note the dude said "tooth" not "teeth."

How much a relationship do you want whern you only have one tooth?
Better the hygienist does it!
