Earn continuing education or college credits, or audit the course if you
just want to learn applied physiology without the stress of tests. A
course in advanced topics in physiology (using clinical case studies) is
offered online, that is by use of the internet, through Lake Superior
College, Duluth MN. This course consists primarily of nursing students
ready to obtain their RN degree, but is open to anybody with the
prerequisites (basic physiology or A&P) or who wants to audit the course
(no tests, no grade) or who wants to earn continuing education (CE)
credits. The primary method of learning for the course will involve
[asynchronous] discussions on message boards, discussing the physiology
applicable to mini-case studies created by the instructor (or perhaps
from students who have clinical cases to share). Occasionally, optional
scheduled chat sessions will take place.

Credits:         2 semester credits. Expect to participate in message
board discussions about 2 hours per week, with another 4-6  hours per
week of homework reading in the textbook or visiting internet web sites
assigned by the instructor.
Instructor:     Randall Oelerich, MD,MA. Dr. Oelerich has been teaching
physiology, anatomy, cell biology, and microbiology at Lake Superior
College for ten years, and is a graduate of the School of Medicine at
the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis.
Begins:            January 12th, 1998. Seating space is limited.
