I've been watching A&E's "Pole to Pole" with a large atlas and while looking over the points of interest along the 30th East Longitude, I happened to notice something odd in Antarctica: A mark at about 84S 58E called the "Pole of Inaccessability". Looking at the map index I find that, sure enough, it checks. But what is it? There is no coresponding North Pole of Inaccessability that I can find in the Arctic. P.s. One wonders what would happen if a citizenry of the southern continent would claim soverenty and kick the UN out. Antarctica for Antarcticans. Oh well. P.p.s. If there's a geographical newsgroup more appropriate for such a question, I'd appreciate a pointer. -- Nick Sayer <mrapple@quack.sac.ca.us> | "I don't mind shooting, so long N6QQQ @ N0ARY.#NOCAL.CA.USA.NOAM | as the right people get shot." +1 408 249 9630, log in as 'guest' | PGP 2.1 public key on request | -- "Dirty" Harray Calahan
