Title:  Lead Engineer
Position Summary: Active Optical device specification and characterization
Position ID:  VM-3 (please include)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain specifications for active optical devices (lazers and
modulators)
Deal with vendors. Evaluate and test samples and prototypes. Assist the
responsibile associate principal engineer in
R&D on active devices.  Set up and maintain laboratory.

SKILLS

Hands-On Experience in a variety of semiconductor optical devices,
including lasers
and modulators.
Comfortable with fiber optic technolgoes.
Familiarity with high speed test equipment.

Desired characteristics
Able to work well with people.
Team player
Entrepreneurial spirit
Capable of independent thought, but also able to take direction.


Education/Experience
BSc or MSc (experimental) in EE, Physics or Related field
Two years telecommunciations industry experience desirable.

Comment:  As the recruiter and having now more then 14 years in UNIX and C
development, I
can safely say the manager of this group is a competent former Bell Labs
PH.d. who demands
alot, but is probably, one of the better managers I have been near.  The
company is interesting also.
