Senior Engineer (Reliability)
Position ID:  VM-1 (please include in subject line)
Location:  Maryland
Position Summary:  Set up and run experiments in the reliability test lab,
under supervision of the associate principal engineer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and run the experiments in the reliability laboratory.  This
includes interfacing the data acquisition equipment, setting up 
and maintaining the data base and setting up and operating 
sophisticated test equipment.  Test equipment may include a 2.5 
Gb/sec bit error rate test set, optical spectrum analyzers, 
tunable lasers, etc.

Skills

Strong software background.  Visual C or Visual basic, MS Access, 
Labview a plus, Oracle Mandatory, IEEE488 or RS-232 necessary

Experience with sophisticated test equipment

Desired Characteristics
Independent thinker, but also able to take direction.  Team Player, 
Capable of managing technicians if necessary

Education/Experience

BA in EE or Related Field, Physics.
Demonstrated expertise in developing software.
Moscow Institute of Technology highly respected.
MIT also highly respected.

Technical Comments:
This position was/has been filled twice by Evolution/Metropolitan 
      Technologies last year.
This year these individual have moved up to a line management
      technical position.
You must be technical intelligent, competent in Visual C++ or Visual Basic
      as well as Oracle
You will not do well for this position if you do not have good math skills
SAT in math 700+, with a background in Fiber Optics.
You are required to think, and problem solve at a high level.
The staff you will be working around/with are ex Bell Lab Ph.d.s in
Physics.
They especially like Russian Math/Physics Degrees.  They will import
      you into the US if you do well in the technical - Visa can be worked
out.
