I read a short treatise entitled "Relativity: The Special and the General
Theory", written in 1916, by Albert Einstein.  The author's preface begins
"The present book is intended, as far as possible, to give an exact insight
into the theory of Relativity to those readers who, from a scientific and
philosophical point of view, are interested in the theory, but who are not
conversant with the mathematical apparatus of theoretical physics."

The book is neatly organized into 32 short chapters (averaging about 5 pages
each) which makes it easy even for those of us with attention deficits to
read and comprehend.  Using mathematics no more complicated than a square
root, the author discusses the relationships of mathematics to physics,
space-time coordinates, the Lorentz transformation, Minkowski space,
gravitation, Gaussian coordinates, and much more.

All of this is written in a style designed by the author's lifetime of
experience to be understood by interested amateurs of ordinary intellect.

If "Relativity for Dummies" is ever written, it will look a lot like this
book.
