The Lorentz Transformation is a simple coordinate transformation in 4-dimensional space-time to convert coordinates from one frame of reference to another that possesses non-accelerated relative motion with respect to the first. Review your freshman calculus and analytical geometry, especially the discussion of translation of axes. You will see that the Lorentz transformation is simply a set of formulas that convert coordinates. Since motion requires both distance and time, and both are available in space-time systems, the conversion is direct and does not treat time as a parametric variable as do the classical 3-dimensional coordinate conversions.
