Well, I'm definitely a relativistic cretin, and a Newtonian cretin
as well, so I'll bite:

Under the influence of inertia only, the ball would remain inert,
i.e., wouldn't move at all.

Of course, if the rest of the universe continued to undergo
accelerations then ... ???
