The point I am making here is that we also CANNOT have a good picture of laws that govern e.g. energy conversion, just on the basis of abstractions. Although 1 + 1 = 2 is true for abstraction, 1 liter of water + 1 liter of spirit is NOT 2 liters of vodka. And this is also how energy works.
