A doctoral level molecular cell biologist is sought to advance a new
and general approach to anticancer and antiviral chemotherapeutic
agents [Nucleic Acid Triggered Catalytic Drug Release. Ma, Z., and
Taylor, J.-S. 2000 Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 97, 11159-11163]. The
research will involve producing cancer-specific mRNA substrates for in
vitro validation of mRNA-triggered cytotoxic drug releasing systems,
and verifying that the same happens in cell culture. The ideal
candidate has a Ph.D. in molecular and/or cell biology and experience
in molecular biological techniques, mRNA production and structural
analysis, tissue culture,fluorescence microscopy, toxicity assays,
antisense, and or PNA technology.
