One postdoctoral position is immediately available from July 1st, 2006 for an NIH supported project. The purpose of the project is to purify BCRP/ABCG2 from an already established Pichia pastoris system as well as biochemical and biophysical characterization of purified BCRP (e.g., functional reconstitution, ATPase and transport studies). Purified BCRP will be used for 2D crystallization trial and structural determination in collaboration with an expert structural biologist. This project provides an excellent opportunity to analyze the structure/function relationship of the important ABC drug transporter BCRP. Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in a biological science, and significant experience with mammalian and/or yeast expression system, transport experiments, membrane protein biochemistry and purification. Experience with standard molecular biology techniques would be an asset. The Department of Pharmaceutics is considered as one of the premier departments in the area of drug disposition. The candidates will have an opportunity to interact with a research-intensive environment of the health science complex of the University. Interested individuals should submit a letter describing your research background and interests, curriculum vitae, and names and contact information for three referees.
